Whether you want to be more responsible and protect the environment or you want to make sure that you and your family are not exposed to harsh and toxic chemicals, you may want to change the cleaning products you use for your cleaning routine.  If you want a green alternative there are quite a lot of cleaning products which you can easily make yourself and use them for all sorts of different surfaces. There is no need to worry because you probably have most of these ingredients in your home. Here are 5 recipes which you can try.

Natural Laundry Soap

The list of toxic ingredients in your everyday detergents may be a good reason to make your own.  Everyday there are new laundry products coming out on the market but what you don’t pay attention to is that they contain a lot of toxic and harsh chemicals which can cause serious health issues. Moreover, these detergents have quite a strong smell which can irritate people with allergies.

For this homemade soap you will need:

  • 1 bar of natural soap (grated)
  • 1 cup of Borax
  • 1 cup of washing soda

Directions:  Keep your homemade detergent in a closed container and store a dry place and use one tablespoon of the soap per each load of laundry.

Glass Cleaner

Commercial glass cleaner is usually a cocktail of harsh chemicals with a very strong smell that can be irritating to people with allergies.

For this eco-friendly solution you will need to mix:

  • 2 cups of water
  • 2 tablespoons of rubbing alcohol
  • 2 tablespoons of white vinegar
  • 5 drops of peppermint oil

Directions:  Use a spray bottle to store the product and shake it well before using it. For best results, use a microfiber cloth to wipe the glass surface.

All-purpose Cleaner

For this recipe you will need to mix:

  • 1/2 cup of vodka
  • 1/2 cup of white vinegar
  • 1 1/2 cups of water
  • 10 drops of lavender essential oil
  • 10 drops of lemon essential oil

These essential oils can add a pleasant scent to the solution and they are also very good disinfectants.

Directions: Pour the homemade product in a spray-bottle and spray the surface you want to clean. Let it sit for about ten minutes and use a microfiber cloth to wipe.

Alternative -Natural- All-purpose Cleaner 

This cleaning product is so easy to make at home that you will wonder why haven’t you tried it until now.

You will need is to mix:

  • 4 tablespoons of baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon warm water (enough to make a paste-like scrub)

You can use this DIY cleaning product to clean the kitchen counter or different appliances. The baking soda is not only a good stain remover but it can also remove unpleasant odors.

Directions: Just put the natural scrub on a sponge and scrub stains away!

Mildew and Mold Cleaner

You can easily make an eco-friendly cleaning product for tackling the mildew and mold in your house.

You need to mix in a spray bottle:

  • 2 cups if water
  • 2 teaspoons of tea tree oil

Directions: Spray the mold and mildew and leave it for 24 hours.  Use your Natural All Purpose Cleaning Solution to clean up the remaining areas.

There are a lot of green alternatives to the toxic and harmful everyday cleaning products which we use. These five recipes are just a few easy homemade products which can help you battle the stains in your home without putting your health at risk. All of the ingredients are very easy to find and the final products are very budget-friendly. Give these green products a try next time you are tackling the tough stains in your home.
